Letter: There is no constitutional right to harm others

This is not rocket science, people.

There is not now, nor has there ever been, a guarantee of absolute freedom in this country. The rights granted by the Constitution have never included the right to harm others.

We have, since the beginning, had an abundance of laws that limit our personal freedoms. We are not allowed to assault, murder, defraud, rape, etc. We are required to have a license to operate a vehicle. We must pay taxes to fund the government. We have to stop at stop signs. We have to wear shoes when we go into restaurants.

So during a pandemic, when face masks have significantly inhibited the spread of a deadly virus in countries that require their use, how does anyone’s “personal freedom” outweigh wearing a mask?
