Letter: Without police, there would be chaos

(Frank Franklin II | AP file photo) A police officer wears a face mask to protect agains the new coronavirus at TPC River Highlands, Sunday, June 28, 2020, in Cromwell, Conn.

During these tumultuous times when law enforcement is under attack because of the acts of some officers, we must not forget that the vast majority of police protect us with their lives every day, and sometimes lose theirs doing their duty.

Whom do we call if there is a prowler, an auto accident, a lost child, a deranged person with a weapon, and for so many other reasons? Without their service there would be complete chaos.

Let's not listen to cries of defunding, or taking away their weapons during these heated moments. Only civil discourse makes sense in finding a solution to the current problem.
