During World War II, our country came together as never before. People willingly endured food rationing and blackout drills, planted victory gardens, repurposed, reused and recycled anything they could. Many sports and the Olympics were canceled. Our parents and grandparents of the Greatest Generation knew they had to sacrifice to defeat the enemy.
Now in the face of another great threat, whining "patriots" are carrying guns, terrorizing state governments, openly defying orders because they cannot get a haircut or might have to wear a mask at the grocery store.
We won WWII, in part, because we came together. We might lose this fight against the pandemic because we can't.
