Dear Spencer Cox,

You would make a good governor — much better than the other Republican candidates. I planned to put your sign on my lawn, vote for you and encourage my family and friends to do the same.

Then you declared your allegiance to Donald Trump, knowing who he is and the damage he and his enablers have done and are doing to our country (and our world). He is a man with no integrity.

How can I support you now that support for you means support for him?

Carol Coombs, Bountiful

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
