Letter: Trump using COVID-19 as a distraction

In this May 11, 2020 photo, President Donald Trump points to a question as he speaks about the coronavirus during a press briefing in the Rose Garden of the White House in Washington. Trump has many targets in his war against the media but perhaps none more surprising than the Voice of America, the venerable U.S.-government funded institution created during WWII and expanded during the Cold War to broadcast independent news and promote democracy and American values to the world. In a series of attacks, Trump and his supporters have accused the outlet of “disgraceful” reporting. They're now pushing hard to install their choice to run the agency that oversees VOA and its affiliates. That battle is about to hit Congress, where partisan lines have already been drawn over fears the administration wants to turn them into Trump propaganda machines. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon)

President Trump continues to dismantle parts of the government while the nation has its attention on COVID-19.

It is the perfect distraction while the Justice Department is going full steam ahead though the courts to get rid of the Affordable Care Act, which includes the requirement of insuring individuals with preexisting conditions which affects about 100 million people.

It is obvious that this president as a dictator is dismantling the government and the controls and oversight. For example, the White House has barred Dr. Anthony Fauci from appearing before a House committee. This is not OK.

There is no control over Donald Trump. The man is a showman, an entertainer who wants to sell the country down the river. Has anyone noticed that Trump only believes in his hunches and not actual facts? Trump lives in Trump World, where no one can tell the truth.

This is the true picture of the United States going down the tube while Trump fabricates information. Please, please do not support this insanity.

The truth matters and, over the next several months, I believe each person will know someone who will die of COVID-19 and this may be the wake-up call for those that follow blindly.

I would like to be tested daily for COVID-19, just like President Trump.

Telling the truth does matter.
