Voters owe a debt of gratitude to The Salt Lake Tribune for unveiling the egregious falsehood being promulgated by congressional candidate Kerry Gibson, who is claiming that he earned his daily herdsman “degree” from Utah State University.
Gibson was a student at USU for a total of three semesters. He did indeed earn a "certificate" for completing the coursework for a particular subject. Those who truly have met the stringent requirements and have indeed earned a degree from a university (including USU) are insulted that Ken White, USU dean of the College of Agriculture, would call the distinction between a certificate from the dairy herdsman program and a degree from USU a "nothingburger."
Both of these men — Gibson and White — should be issued a reprimand from USU for misrepresenting the facts and 1st Congressional District voters should remember this deception come voting time. The last thing we need in Washington is another person who has trouble distinguishing truth from falsehood.
