Letter: Time to stop singing and start voting

(Patrick Semansky | AP file photo) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Ky., walks to his office on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, April 9, 2020.

We have got to stand up, stop singing “Amazing Grace” and put the blame on the creatures who got us into this mess.

We must stop begging the one who had nothing to do with the mess we are in, except to give us the way out of it, with our intelligence, creativity, spiritual goodness and determination, to rescue ourselves from the insanity of Donald Trump and the failed ideology of the Republican Party.

We are the creatures that allowed the criminals to take over our country. We are not going to get our country back with tears and prayers. We have got to get off our knees, out of the churches and into the trenches leading to the voting booths.

We can not save our country by supporting an insane dictator and turning our backs on our own responsibilities.

This is not life as usual. We must fight against Trump, Attorney General William Barr, Mitch McConnell and the Republican-dominated Senate.

Prayers and tears won’t do it. We have to do it.

John Dombek, Santa Clara
