Letter: Reasons to elect Huntsman governor

(Rick Egan | Tribune file photo) Former Gov. Jon Huntsman answers a question during the gubernatorial debate at the 2020 Silicon Slopes Tech Summit at the Salt Palace Convention Center, Friday, Jan. 31, 2020.

I just would like to express my opinion about Jon Huntsman’s announcement that he was running for Utah’s governor. There are several reasons why he should be elected:

1. The main is that he didn't finish his previous term because he was called as ambassador to China by President Barack Obama, and then called to be ambassador to Russia by President Donald Trump, positions that he performed highly effectively.

2. His nobility and honesty as a human being are exceptional, and his leadership is excellent because his experience in business, assignments and tasks has been unique and diverse.

3. He is not a typical politician, not like those who use their posts to enrich themselves. He doesn't need money, he has plenty and he just wants to serve his fellowmen.

4. He has special empathy and is a good listener. He is one of the few leaders in Utah who constantly has meetings with different cultures, even with those less connected to the elite. He has been particularly attentive to the Hispanic community and Native American tribes represented in the state. Not only has he attended cultural events, festivals and fairs, he has taken the trouble to learn of important issues facing these communities.
