Letter: Where are Utah’s values?

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) The Utah Capitol at dusk on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020, during the legislative session.

Not being a resident of Utah, I have an outsider’s perspective. To me, Utah has always seemed a state founded by people of faith, with deep moral convictions.

That’s why I was so surprised to read of Utah legislative efforts to condemn Sen. Mitt Romney for his heartfelt vote in the Senate impeachment trial of Donald J.Trump.

Romney could not have made his moral argument for conviction more clear, but it seems many in the Utah Republican Party do not accept it and would condemn him for it.

What goes, Utah? Where are your deeply held values, that you would chastise a man for following his commitment to God, our Constitution and what he believes is morally right?
