Letter: Utah should be proud of Mitt Romney

(Alex Brandon | AP file photo) Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, right, departs after the impeachment acquittal of President Donald Trump, on Capitol Hill, Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 in Washington.

I’m sure I join thousands of people around the country and in Utah who couldn’t help but notice that — after a powerful speech and a decision based on deep religious faith from Sen. Mitt Romney — your other senator, Mike Lee, I’m sure also a Mormon, showed his lack of moral courage and failure of his own faith with his vote on impeachment.

The contrast couldn't have been more clear.

I’m not a Mormon or even deeply religious, but I know courage and character when I see it. And I know the failure of those qualities when I see it.

The people of Utah should be very proud of Mitt Romney. I wish we in Oklahoma had senators with that sort of moral courage to speak the truth.
