There is absolutely no reason that there is not a high-speed rail system that connects Salt Lake City and Wendover. The amount of toxic polluting cars transporting gamblers and concert-goers to Wendover is enough to merit such a transit system.
There are a number of electric commuter type train choices available to make this option viable. One can attend church in the morning, be gambling in the afternoon and home by evening. (Winnings subject to 10% donation to local church.)
The desolate environ next to the freeway is begging to be utilized. Drinking and driving accidents are another reason that this is a viable option.
Putting an elevated system in the middle of the freeway could eliminate the environmental impact that so many are concerned about.
I am amazed that this option has not been addressed. This is a huge money-maker for someone who has the ability to grease the lawmakers of Utah with money to make them think that it is a doable option.
I am one who would participate in the wonderful concerts in Wendover but hates that long drive out there. Cut that commute to Wendover down, and Wendover will flourish and grow, creating jobs for for Wendover, Utah, and West Wendover, Nevada.
A combined effort between Nevada and Utah could cut the cost to each state making this idea a must do.
I would do it but I am not listed as a mover and shaker in this state. There are no hooty tooty cabin owners to object to this, as there are in the Cottonwood Canyon lift system presented in the Tribune of late.
