Letter: Nancy Pelosi takes a page from ‘Moscow’ Mitch McConnell

(Senate TV via AP) Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky speaks on the Senate floor Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at the Capitol in Washington.

When Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died, President Obama sent a nonpartisan, widely acclaimed nomination to the Senate as the law required. Sen. Mitch McConnell refused to send it to the members for a vote, waiting for the next election over a year. Another Republican above the law.

Much of the Republican Senate has already announced their verdict regardless of the evidence or testimony, so Speaker Nancy Pelosi is doing exactly what she should do. She’s taking a page from Moscow Mitch’s playbook and refusing to send the articles of impeachment to a rigged Senate, hopefully until after the next election. A brilliant strategy to deal with our impeached, disgraced, traitorous president.
