Letter: Conservatives aren’t so conservative any more

(Trent Nelson | Tribune file photo) The State Capitol Building in Salt Lake City, Thursday, March 13, 2014.

Years ago, Democrats were accused of being tax-and-spend politicians. It seems now that we have a new group of tax-and-spend politicians, the so-called conservatives at the federal and state level who seem to think that Americans have bottomless pockets to draw new and ever-increasing taxes from.

The federal tax cut ended up being an increase for most Americans. Now the state of Utah wants to pick our pockets for more taxes.

We have wasted millions on the ill-advised prison move, frivolous lawsuits, the inland port and the proposed coal port. Utah and Salt Lake Counties feel they need more also.

Republicans are the new tax-and-spend politicians of the 21st century. It seems conservatives are not conservative.
