Letter: We are lucky to have many good gubernatorial candidates

In an election cycle that’s already high stakes due to the presidential election, Utah has something additional to pique the interest of voters: The first open gubernatorial race since 1992. It’s shaping up to be a real battle of the titans, with well-qualified and formidable candidates like Lt. Gov. Spencer Cox, Aimee Winder Newton and former Gov. Jon Huntsman Jr. We are truly lucky to have so many good candidates to choose from.

Utah, a fast-growing state, will need a strong, forward-thinking executive to continue to move things in a positive direction. With that in mind, it is incumbent upon all voters to seriously consider each candidate and let your voice be heard on Election Day. This is not one to sit out.

Adlai Stevenson once said, “As citizens of this democracy, you are the rulers and the ruled, the law-givers and the law-abiding, the beginning and the end.” Indeed, and we should be mindful of that.
