Letter: Stewart chooses party over country

(Andrew Harnik | AP Photo) Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, questions Acting Director of National Intelligence Joseph Maguire as he testifies before the House Intelligence Committee on Capitol Hill in Washington, Thursday, Sept. 26, 2019.

To: Rep. Chris Stewart

Sir,

I am using this forum to reach out to you to address concerns I have regarding current events. Getting a response from your office directly takes too much time.

I have been troubled by the recent events that question the actions of the current president and foreign countries.

I understand the the House Intelligence Committee is one of the committees conducting an inquiry into matters related to these events. I believe you are a member of this committee. Have you been attending these inquiries? If not, have you been prevented from attending?

If you haven't been prevented from attending, have you been in attendance? If not, why not?

I saw news reports of Republican House members breaking into a SCIF room, trying to disrupt an inquiry meeting. Does that trouble you? It troubles me, your constituent. This action clearly presents a threat to our country's national security.

You suggest that government employees who report the wrong-doing of elected officials are being unpatriotic, but you turn a blind eye to the same government officials from asking foreign governments for help digging up dirt about political opponents?

Clearly, you have chosen a side and it's your party and not our country. You should resign before you disgrace our state.

At least stay off of the television.
