Letter: Look at our economic success

James Carville, a strategist for the Bill Clinton campaign in 1992, made the statement about that presidential election that, "It's the economy, stupid.”
I find that comment as spot on today as it was 27 years ago.
The stock market was up 33% since Donald Trump took the oath of office. Unemployment is at a 50-year low at 3.5%. Hispanic unemployment is at an all time low at 3.9%. African Americans have their lowest ever unemployment rate of 5.5%. Among Asian Americans, the rate is at 2.5%. Adult women are at 3.1% unemployment.
The median household income is up $5,000 under President Trump in the two years and eight months he has been at the helm. Compare this to only a $1,500 increase in the median income over the past 15 years under Presidents Bush and Obama.
I would hope all voters would look at the success we are having in the economy and stop looking at things with their eyes wide shut.
Jay Blackett, Sandy
