Letter: Penalized for fighting climate change
(John Locher | AP file photo) The 2018 Nissan Leaf is on display during an unveiling event in Las Vegas in September 2017. Electric car prices are falling, but they still cost more than equivalent gas models because of their expensive batteries.
I am a senior citizen driving a Nissan Leaf all-electric auto. My driving habits involve very little travel, approximately 10 miles weekly.
It seems I am being punished by our "worthies" setting policy for helping with our global warming problems. They saw fit, with all their wisdom, to raise my car registration fee $50.
What a country, no?
I suppose those of us with electric cars are doing untold damage to their already miserable roads.
