Letter: The president should be removed from office

(Andrew Harnik | AP) President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump board Air Force One at Bordeaux–Mérignac Airport, Monday, Aug. 26, 2019 in Bordeaux, France, to return to Washington following the G-7 summit.

When does the humiliation and ongoing embarrassment end?

The man in the White House, in what seemed to be a random thought, decided that he would look into buying Greenland from Denmark. He wasn’t aware in the least that this was another insult to one of our long time allies. Really?

One can only imagine our indignation if, say, England asked about buying Hawaii. Or better yet, if Mexico asked about buying back the Southwest United States. After all, that territory belonged to Mexico once upon a time.

The mere fact that the White House occupant seems oblivious that he has, once again, insulted one of our long-time allies, is a clear demonstration of his inability to fulfill the duties of the position to which he was elected.

His lack of understanding about how tariffs work and the damage they have done to our people and our country, his ongoing separation of immigrant children from their parents, and his total disregard for the damage done to the prestige of the office of the presidency is reason enough for his removal from office.
