Letter: Nothing in the Word of Wisdom about the environment?

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) Thick smoke envelops the mountains and Utah County with poor air quality as crews continue to battle the Coal Hollow fire near Highway 6 on Saturday, Aug. 11, 2018.

While The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has recently updated its Word of Wisdom prohibitions to include all sorts of coffee drinks, I wish their health concerns included the environmental assaults fueled by greed and hubris.

I read today of a Promontory Point landfill destined to leak toxic liquids into the Great Salt Lake.

The public is excluded from comment, just as the nightmarish inland port project and state prison project.

Apparently, airborne and waterborne heavy metals are to join plastics in the air we breathe and the water we drink.

God help us.
