Letter: Is it more tee time Trump’s after?

(Patrick Semansky | AP) President Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019, in Manchester, N.H.

While his tax cuts for the wealthiest are done juicing an Obama recovery economy weighted down now by tariffs our taxpayers shoulder, teetering on recession;

While his administration rewrites the inscription on the Statue of Liberty with cruelty toward all seeking refuge in this once-great nation built by immigrants and fueled by their eagerness for opportunity;

While mass shootings are normal now everywhere — whether incited by his echo chamber of hate or the overwhelming availability of weapons of war to anyone unstable with a grievance;

While democracy dies all over the globe, along with our leadership in defending those values with allies he has now rejected, embracing dictators for which he has kinship;

While we are exhausted by his incessant schoolboy tweets and taunts, the corruption and incompetence in his Cabinet, the departure of anyone with a brain, leaving only sycophants to cower;

With this waste and woe wrought on his watch or by his hand, the man in the White House, charged with defending and protecting this nation, is obsessed with buying Greenland.

With July 2019 the warmest month on record, with our planet’s ice caps and that nation’s glaciers melting, let’s suppose he wants more golf courses.
