Letter: Red flag for the man with the nuclear codes

(Evan Vucci | AP) President Donald Trump talks to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House, Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, in Washington, as he prepares to leave Washington for his annual August holiday at his New Jersey golf club.

If we are going to red-flag individuals who are mentally ill and dangerous, who manifest delusion, paranoia, hostility, mood changes, confused thinking and trouble relating to people, consider one with access to launch codes in the Oval Office.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
