Letter: Driving on highways is downright terrifying

(Trent Nelson | Tribune file photo) Traffic on I-15, looking south from 3900 South in South Salt Lake, on Wednesday June 5, 2019.

The highways around the Salt Lake Valley keep getting more frightening all the time. The drives to Provo, Ogden and Park City can be downright terrifying, with speeding drivers cutting in and out of various traffic lanes.

A family member of mine drives a cargo transport daily from Reno to San Francisco via I-80, a traffic corridor that is normally jammed with vehicles of every description. I asked him if he had any advice to give to make such congested travel a little safer.

His advice was to drive somewhat slower than the main flow of traffic. Then he quickly added that driving the posted speed limit is sufficient.
