Letter: How can Christians support Trump?

(Trent Nelson | Tribune file photo) The Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Thursday April 18, 2019.

Will someone in my church tell me how they can support Donald Trump? Yes, I am challenging any member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to tell me how they can, in good conscience, support his nauseating character and policies.

In 2016, I was about ready to drink the Kool-Aid and vote for Trump because I was a Republican at the time. But, thank goodness, I woke up, came to my senses and did not vote for him.

With Trump’s recent antics against four congresswomen, I am stupefied that all Republicans — especially members of my church — are not up in arms about his racism.

How can you as a member of the church support him when everything about his character is against everything we teach? How can you agree with his policies when almost everything he does is against how we should treat our neighbors?

Trump is the most anti-LDS, anti-human, anti-decent, anti-Christ person I have ever seen. He thinks he is a king; he wants to be a dictator.

If you are an active member of my church, tell me, pray tell, how can you support Trump and still call yourself a true Christian?

Peter Brooks, Lehi
