Letter: Immigration is a part of life

(Steve Helber | AP file photo) U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents detain a person during a raid in Richmond, Va., on Oct. 22, 2018.

You could say immigration started in the oceans, where life began. From the oceans to land.

It’s believed that humans evolved in what is now called Africa, 500,000 years ago. From there, humans immigrated to every part of the planet. Some have even gone back to the ocean, and we are thinking of ways to emigrate to other planets and moons.

The main reason for immigrating, or moving on, is to create a better life for ourselves. Immigrating is a part of life.

But humans, thinking they are civilized, have made laws to stop or control other humans trying to immigrate to other countries to make a better life for themselves. What is going on at our southern border is sub-human and not civilized.

Humans think they are the most intelligent and civilized animal species on the planet; I wonder.
