Letter: We need them all

(Brynn Anderson | AP) Democratic presidential candidates from left, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, former vice president Joe Biden, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., gesture before the start of the Democratic primary debate hosted by NBC News at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Thursday, June 27, 2019, in Miami.

While the purpose of the Democratic debates was to let certain candidates stand out as front runners, they had the opposite effect on me. In listening to these intelligent, articulate (mostly, Eric Stalwart and Amy Klobuchar couldn’t quite move past kitsch) and passionate candidates it occurred to me that our country will be OK if all of these individuals can find a way to work together to right our listing ship. Whoever becomes the Democratic candidate and wins in 2020, I hope the rest of the pack considers how they can contribute to bring dignity and democracy back. We need them all.
