Letter: Call Trump what he is: A rapist

Another woman comes forward to credibly accuse Donald Trump of sexual assault, and his response is to denigrate her as not attractive enough to rape.

In the infamous Access Hollywood bus tape, Trump told us that he was a sexual predator. E. Jean Carroll's account of how he once cornered her in a dressing room and then raped her is completely consistent with what Trump told Billy Bush on that bus.

It is time we call Donald Trump what he is: A rapist.

As a private citizen, his sadism and psychopathy were enabled by privilege, by sycophants and by the vacuous celebrity culture of the last 40 years. But as president he is now buoyed by something more sinister and infuriating: a Republican Party so corrupted by power that it is willing to tolerate his hatred of women in order to achieve its political ends and a Democratic Party so feckless it cannot find an effective strategy for stopping him.

For the sake of our country, and for the sake of all survivors of sexual abuse, we must vote him out of office in 2020. Heaven help us if we don't.
