Letter: Teachers should get together and vote
(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Teachers from the Salt Lake School District chant during a rally at Innovations High School on Tuesday, June 18, 2019.
I have nothing but respect for the difficult job teachers do and believe that they should receive fair compensation for their efforts.
However, I would be willing to bet that, when election time rolls around, the majority of them continue to vote for the same people who steadfastly refuse to adequately fund education while wasting our taxpayer money on projects no one wants, such as moving the prison and building an inland port.
The old adage says that you can’t keep doing the same thing and expect different results. Teachers and their families and friends represent quite a sizable voting bloc. You can be the change you want by refusing to reelect the same people who continue to stiff you year after year.
