Letter: The Salt Lake inland port shouldn’t be compared to Kansas’

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) Aerial photos of various Salt Lake points of interest including the proposed inland port area. Salt Lake Tribune, downtown, capitol, North Salt Lake.

The comparison of our proposed inland port to such a port in Kansas is an apples and oranges comparison.

Do you see, in that overhead view of the giant Kansas inland port, a congested east-west major highway contained between a mountain and a large lake?

Do you see a proposed state prison on the same approach to a large city?

Do you see a major airport nearby?

Do you see a Legacy Highway that promised homeowners slow traffic, nature trails and unobstructed views being widened to accommodate semis?

Our valley lies between two mountain chains that feed in pollution from many sources.

Do we need more industry to increase pollution?

Get real. This is not Kansas.
