Letter: The greatest country in the world, indeed
(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Keaton Hill talks to Dawn Le as they plan to canvas a neighborhood in Taylorsville with other supporters of the fuller Medicaid expansion, urging residents to call their senator, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019.
We claim (most of us) that the United States is the greatest country in the world. And yet, Canada, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom and many more all have universal healthcare. Those on the right claim that we can’t afford to provide health care for all of our people. In Utah, we claim that we can’t even afford to fully expand Medicaid. Are we the greatest country, or not?
By the way, universal healthcare would provide many opportunities for good paying jobs for our workforce.
