Letter: Gravel pit bill would make our air quality worse
(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) Geneva Rock's operations at Point of the Mountain, straddling Utah and Salt Lake Counties, Tuesday September 22, 2015.
I am a lifelong resident of Utah but have lived in Lehi for the past five years. During this time frame, I have experienced prolonged periods of coughing and difficulty breathing, as well as a miscarriage. My doctor attributes these things in part to the poor air quality our state, specifically within Utah County.
If HB0288 passes, our air quality will only get worse. The air we breathe should be considered the highest priority of critical infrastructure over any other kinds of materials. We live in a First World country that should not be promoting mining in people's backyards.
I implore our senators to please think of the greater good of Utah’s general population’s health. We all breathe the same air.
Brianna Larson, Lehi
