Letter: Daniel Webster warned us about Trump

(Andrew Harnik | The Associated Press) President Donald Trump speaks to a Venezuelan American community at Florida Ocean Bank Convocation Center at Florida International University in Miami, Fla., Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.

A quote from Daniel Webster on preserving the principles of our Constitution:

"It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well; but they mean to govern. They promise to be kind masters; but they mean to be masters. ... They think there need be but little restraint upon themselves. … The love of power may sink too deep in their own hearts.”

That is a perfect description of Donald Trump.

As I recall we had another president who said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Now we have a president who says there a border crisis because he can’t get his own way and will lie, cheat and do anything in his power to circumvent the system which our Founding Fathers put in place to protect the people from low character, mean-spirited, low integrity, racist personalities like Trump.
