Letter: It’s time for a new Ellis Island
(Mary Altaffer | Associated Press file photo) In this Jan. 20, 2018, file photo, visitors to the Statue of Liberty stand in line to board a ferry that will cruise the bay around the statue and Ellis Island in New York.
Could the immigration problem at the southern border be solved with a fix similar to what was done from 1892 to 1954 at Ellis Island? Twelve million immigrants from Europe were processed in that time period.
I believe the amount of money we spend trying to keep immigrants out would be better spent welcoming them in as we have in the past.
