Letter: Tell lawmakers to keep Proposition 3

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Eric Wilson expresses his sentiments as he joins over 300 demonstrators in the Capitol rotunda on Monday, Jan, 28, 2019, on the first day of the Legislative session to rally in support of protecting Proposition 3, the Medicaid Expansion law recently passed by voters.

The Jan. 13 Salt Lake Tribune editorial was a fine piece on Proposition 3, Medicaid expansion.

The editorial raised, and dealt with, all the arguments for and against the proposition, which Utah’s voters passed with 53 percent of the vote. It is now law.

What the editorial lacked was what we, the 53 percent for the proposition, should do in response to Sen. Allen Christensen’s (and probably others’) bills in the legislative session designed to protect, needlessly, the state’s coffers at the expense of our people’s health care.

So what can we, the 53 percent, do? Find your state senator and representative at le.utah.gov and simply text, email or send a message on Facebook, tell them you are their constituent, and to vote no on any efforts to change Medicaid expansion from the way you voted for it. No changes!

Your legislators want and need to hear from their constituents. Please do it now. And contact Christensen to let him know your opinion. It’s what your government is all about. Of the people, by the people, for the people.
