Letter: Why include a killer in ‘Utahns we lost?’

(Scott Sommerdorf | The Salt Lake Tribune) City Councilman Chris Wharton, who represents the area around the Salt Lake City Cemetery, walks in one of the older areas, Friday, April 13, 2018. Wharton is involved in an effort to help get more funding for the renewal of the cemetery.

We were reading the Salt Lake Tribune front-page article "Utahns we lost.” As we were reading about philanthropists, artists, church leaders, fallen police officers/firefighters and pillars of our community, we came to the name of a man convicted of murdering a woman and suspected in other crimes against women. Really?!

As parents who have lost a daughter to an extremely violent crime, we know the dismay Mr. and Mrs. McCluskey must have felt if they read this article and saw their daughter's name after his.

Shame on The Salt Lake Tribune.
