Letter: I miss the days BT (Before Trump)

(Evan Vucci | The Associated Press) President Donald Trump talks with reporters before departing for France on the South Lawn of the White House, Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, in Washington.

In the United States of America, Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave, President Donald Trump at campaign rallies, with his innumerable lies and constant distortion of facts, motivates his Trumplodyte followers to focus their hate and anger on what are mostly good and decent people making an arduous journey in search of a better life for themselves and their children.

These people are fleeing from corrupt governments and violent drug cartels that are probably a result of a 1980s president’s ill-conceived, illegally funded war that served only to destabilized their countries’ governments and arm the drug cartels.

This country’s insatiable appetite for drugs provides the drug cartels with huge sums of money and money is power. If these weary travelers are somehow able to avoid being stopped and killed by the cartel gangs and manage to reach our southern border, the president and the Department of Justice, with help from Homeland Security and the Border Patrol, kidnap their children and babies from the guardians they are traveling with and then never return them.

Trump is right, we need to build a wall — to protect the refugees from Trump and his minions. Is this what Making America Great Again looks like? Please, can we go back to being the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave? I can remember a time Before Trump (BT) and dearly miss it.
