Letter: The GOP is stealing from hard-working Americans

The GOP recently gifted the top 1 percent a $1.5 trillion tax cut with a silver bow on a silver platter. This is Robin Hood in reverse: stealing from the middle class and poor to give to the rich.

How?

Because we citizens pay into our Social Security and Medicare during our working years (skimmed right off the top of our paychecks). That is our money that is supposed to be waiting for us when we retire. Yet now our hard-earned benefits will be reduced by Sen. Mitch McConnell and his party of bandits because the government gave themselves and other rich people a tax cut to the tune of $1.5 trillion and they now must dip into our Medicare and Social Security accounts to pay for their greed.

This is nothing less than stealing from hard-working Americans.
