Letter: Pelosi and Schumer are no demons

I see yet another letter as well as campaign ads demonizing Rep. Nancy Pelosi along with the never-ending Trump rally refrain of the horrors of Sen. Chuck Schumer and Pelosi gaining power.

I understand how well creating a demon has worked for the right wing with 30 years of conservative talk radio, Fox News and billions in Super PAC money driving home the point.

Let’s look at the other side of the aisle, where House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell currently run the show.

Dear Mitch has stolen a Supreme Court pick, rammed through the legitimate pick with an unfit candidate when there were many other conservative choices available and soured the Senate to a degree that bipartisan cooperation to deal with our nation’s problems now seems nearly impossible.

His House crony Ryan has made it his lifelong goal to dismantle Social Security and Medicare, while demonstrating his inability to control his conference. As for their accomplishments, they can list the tax scam, that gave most of the benefits to corporations and the rich, along with a budget-busting omnibus spending bill that combined are producing annual trillion-dollar deficits. They additionally continue to chip away at protections for pre-existing conditions in our health insurance.

So while I don’t worship Nancy and Chuck, I’ll take them over Paul and Mitch any time.
