Letter: Asian-Americans are often invisible in Utah

Kudos to The Tribune for Cynthia Chen’s contribution to the Opinion section. It made me happy to see an Asian point of view in Utah.

Being a Japanese-American in Utah, I have had very similar experiences in school and working at Salt Lake City police department for 40-plus years.

My son graduated from the University of Utah’s ATP program in acting. Finding gigs for male Asians is tough. He had a leading role in a play and it was sad to not see his face on the program cover, but, instead, other white students. It’s like being invisible, ignored and nonexistent.

Media’s great influence can be to create peace in the world through a widened perspective of inclusion. We need to seek out and view diversion primarily to see in each other our own humanity.
