Letter: Love spokesman should have known better than to try to pass off her words as The Trib’s

Mailer sent by Rep. Mia Love created controversy by attributing only to the "Salt Lake Tribune" a quote she actually wrote in a guest column for the newspaper.

It’s sad that Richard Piatt, formerly a credible and respected reporter for KSL and now spokesman for Mia Love, has lost all that credibility after asserting that “there was no intention to mislead anyone” regarding the mailer sent out at taxpayer expense that failed to accurately describe the source of quotes attributed to The Salt Lake Tribune.

For someone who worked in the news business as long as Piatt did, it just doesn’t pass the smell test. He knows it was misleading, and it’s a sad commentary on politics in this state when he sacrifices his credibility to further his candidate’s interests.
