Letter: Before sealing off mines, make sure no one is trapped inside
(Steve Griffin | The Salt Lake Tribune via AP) Law enforcement officials wait to load two bodies into a medical examiners truck after they were recovered from an abandoned mine in Utah's west desert near Eureka, Utah, Wednesday March 28, 2018. The two bodies found Wednesday in the abandoned mine are believed to be those of a teenage couple who disappeared months ago under suspicious circumstances, police said.
After finding two young people, Breezy and Riley, in the depths of an old Utah mineshaft, I hope authorities will send down cameras into all abandoned mines before sealing them off. There’s no way to know how many more missing people they’ll find.
