Letter: Sincerely disappointed in Tribune LDS section

I was dismayed to see a 32-page special section on the LDS Church in Tuesday’s paper. What is this? Investigative reporting? A missionary effort? The Deseret News? What? I sincerely hope that my subscription fee didn’t pay for this, and if the LDS Church paid for this coverage, then it should be clearly marked as “Advertising Section.”

This is not news. It’s a missionary tract. The one article that might be called “reporting” on tithing is more like a Gospel Doctrine discussion. This section is longer than the rest of the paper, for hell’s (or is it heaven’s?) sake. I’m so disappointed. I thought the line between church and news was a little brighter in The Tribune. This section makes me rethink that naive assumption.

Sincerely disappointed.
