Letter: We keep seeing mothers and children being deported — where are the men?

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Maria Santiago Garcia, left, faced with a deportation order to return to her home country of Guatemala, embraces her daughter Natalie Fajardo, 3, during the last hour of Christmas night before catching the red-eye flight with her four children, who are all U.S. citizens.

Where are all the men, the fathers and husbands of these mothers and children who are being deported?

There are men in the lives of these women; where and who are they? Are they supporting the children or is there pubic assistance in the picture?

If the children are left in the U.S., who cares for them?

It is always a young mother with several children, never a father with children facing deportation. Does this not seem off balance again?
