Letter: Tribune should take a stand against hateful comments on stories

(Steve Griffin | The Salt Lake Tribune) President Russell M. Nelson speaks during funeral services for LDS Church President Thomas S. Monson at the Conference Center in Salt Lake City Friday January 12, 2018.

On the morning of Jan. 3, the local news channels had numerous stories and interviews from wonderful people in Utah about their relationships with and goodness of Thomas S. Monson.

Then I read The Salt Lake Tribune online stories and the disgusting, hateful and idiotic comments by the trolls. The Salt Lake Tribune could and should reset user accounts and require real identities. There is also no reason to have comments on every story.

Show some leadership and take a stand against the erosion of society’s social dialogue from the shadows.
