Letter: Let me count the ways in which my representatives don't represent me

Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune Rep. Chris Stewart debates challenger Luz Robles at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Thursday September 25, 2014. The two are contending for Utah's 2nd Congressional District.

This is what my elected congressional representatives and president have done to my country.

The attack on political correctness is resulting in the loss of civility in our society. The failure to protect me from the hazards of pollution in all its forms is making me sick. The stealing of land which I have a partial ownership in to enrich a few is thievery. The stability of moral high ground is being washed away by advancement of ulterior motives for enhancing the result of inferior ambitions. The weakening of the rule of law as the basis of our democracy will eventually result in the loss of individual freedoms from the actions and oppression of others.

Our government is based upon representative leadership, but my representatives do not represent what I believe or stand for. It is time for me to find leaders that do, before it is too late.

Steve Vance, South Jordan
