Interstate 15 is scheduled to close overnight Friday in Layton. Also, weekend travel will be complicated by I-15 lane restrictions in northern Utah County, plus a closure of 9000 South in Sandy.

The Utah Department of Transportation says I-15 is scheduled to close in both directions in Layton beginning as early as 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

It will close between Antelope Drive and the Layton Parkway. All traffic will be detoured to Main Street and then back onto the freeway. The closure will allow crews to pour concrete for the driving surface of the new Gentile Street bridge.

Meanwhile, I-15 will be reduced to three lanes between Main Street in American Fork and 600 East in Lehi from Saturday at 10:30 p.m. until Monday at 5:30 a.m.

Crews will be pouring concrete as part of the reconstruction of the bridge over Lehi’s Main Street.

Also, 9000 South in Sandy is scheduled to close in both directions between Monroe Street and I-15 from Saturday at 8 p.m. until Monday at 5 a.m.

That section also will be closed next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

The closures will allow crews to place beams for a new bridge over 9000 South as part of a future ramp system designed to improve traffic flow on northbound I-15.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. Updated information is available on the UDOT traffic website, udottraffic.utah.gov, or on the UDOT traffic app.
