Political Cornflakes: Trump uses White House turkey ceremony to riff on impeachment inquiry

(AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin) Two male turkeys from North Carolina named Bread and Butter, that will be pardoned by President Donald Trump,p hang out in their hotel room at the Willard InterContinental Hotel, Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, in Washington. The turkeys will be pardoned by the president during a ceremony at the White House ahead of Thanksgiving.

As President Donald Trump spared two turkeys — named Bread and Butter — at an annual turkey pardon at the Rose Garden on Tuesday, he used the opportunity to joke about the impeachment inquiry. At one point, he said that the fowls were bred to remain calm under pressure, an important skill because “they have already received subpoenas to appear in Adam Schiff’s basement on Thursday.” [WaPost]
