I-15 to close during overnight hours in Layton this weekend

(Courtesy of UDOT) Detour routes during closure of Interstate 15 in Layton during overnight hours this weekend.

Interstate 15 is scheduled to close overnight in Layton on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to allow for demolition of a bridge.

That bridge over Church Street is being removed to facilitate construction of new express lanes on the freeway from Layton to Riverdale.

The freeway will close Friday at 10 p.m. until 8 a.m. on Saturday; on Saturday from 10 p.m. until 9 a.m. on Sunday; and on Sunday from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. on Monday.

During the closures, northbound I-15 traffic will be detoured to Main Street at the Layton Parkway interchange. Southbound freeway traffic will be detoured at Antelope Drive to Main Street.

The Utah Department of Transportation advises motorists to plan ahead for delays, and to avoid that section of I-15 if possible. U.S. 89 in east Davis County is a possible detour route.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change. Updates about road conditions are available on the UDOT traffic app for smartphones or online at udottraffic.utah.gov.
