I-80 ramp from Salt Lake City International Airport is closing for two months

Getting from the airport to downtown Salt Lake City, other parts of the eastern Salt Lake Valley and major freeways is going to be trickier during the next two months.

Beginning as early as Friday night and continuing through the end of July, the Utah Department of Transportation is closing the ramp from The Salt Lake City International Airport to I-80 eastbound.

Motorists heading east from the airport can go south on Bangerter Highway, then east on SR-201. Alternatively, UDOT suggests traveling west on I-80 to 5600 West then looping back onto I-80 eastbound.

Crews will be spending June and July completing bridgework on I-80 over the Jordan River Surplus Canal.

In another, temporary weekend closure, two southbound lanes on I-15 will be closed in Sandy, near 9000 South from Friday night to Monday morning at 5 a.m. Up to four lanes may be closed at night in the area as crews repair pavement.

Construction schedules depend on the weather and are subject to change. For the latest information on traffic restrictions during construction, visit the UDOT Traffic website (udottraffic.utah.gov) or download the UDOT Traffic app for iPhone or Android.
