I-80 to close near Tooele on Monday, Tuesday nights

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) The intersection of I-215 and Redwood road is one of the projects that UDOT has identified as one of the 10 big construction projects for 2018. Monday, April 2, 2018.

Interstate 80 is scheduled to close near Tooele in different directions on Monday and Tuesday nights — with lengthy detours Monday.

The Utah Department of Transportation says it plans to close westbound traffic Monday from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., and eastbound traffic Tuesday. That will allow crews to set girders for a new ramp bridge at the State Route 36 interchange.

On Monday, westbound drivers will be detoured off I-80 onto state Route 36, and then to State Route 138, where they will be routed through Grantsville and back to westbound I-80. Eastbound I-80 will remain open.

On Tuesday night, eastbound drivers will be detoured off I-80 and then right back onto it via the SR-36 off- and on-ramps. Westbound I-80 will remain open that night.

Also, UDOT advises that, on Wednesday, drivers should plan ahead for rolling slowdowns in both directions while crews finish installing the girders.

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
