Another government shutdown in the making? Fight over Mueller, border wall could make it so. McAdams still in the lead, but Love gaining. Romney touches down in Washington.

Happy Wednesday. Could another government shutdown be on the horizon? Congress needs to pass another spending bill by Dec. 7 and already both sides of the aisle are offering their must-have additions. Democrats want the bill to include protection for special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, and Republicans are demanding money for a new U.S.-Mexico border wall. [Politico]

Topping the news: Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams’ lead over Rep. Mia Love diminished a bit after vote counts were updated Tuesday. McAdams held 50.3 percent of votes and Love had 49.7 percent. A winner will not be determined until Friday at the very earliest. [Trib][DNews][Fox13][KUTV]

-> After voters approved a full Medicaid expansion in the midterm elections, lawmakers have asked to rescind their proposal to the federal government for a limited Medicaid expansion. [APviaTrib]

-> Proposition 4 on political redistricting has lost its lead but is still too close to call in the 2018 elections, with 50.05 percent of votes against it and 49.95 percent of votes in favor of it as of Tuesday. [Trib][DNews]
